Freshwater and Marcellus Shale Mining

The Marcellus Shale curriculum unit is designed for science classes, grade levels 10th-12th. The unit will introduce students to pH and factors associated with pollution. The unit will engage students and give them the opportunity to think about the issues associated with energy production and its relationship to water pollution. Marcellus Shale is a fairly new resource currently being used to generate energy. The management of this resource is extremely important to our environment.
