Life on Spinning Rocks

This unit is designed for use with High School Biology, Chemistry and Earth and Space Science students. The unit reviews the topics contained in the Characteristics of Life in Biology, incorporates the components of Matter and Energy in Chemistry, and includes the understanding of planetary environments through Earth and Space Science.
Students will integrate their understanding of these topics. Students will then expand their understanding of extreme environments on earth, and the planetary environments in space, thus assimilating a cosmological perspective to life and existence in the universe. The goal is for students to create an alien using a scientifically plausible argument. The unit is intended for Grade 10 and Grade 11 students in an urban setting.
