Six TIP Teachers Selected as 2015 National Fellows by the Yale National Initiative

The Teachers Institute of Philadelphia is pleased to announce that six teachers have been selected to represent TIP as National Fellows at the Yale National Initiative’s seminar program at Yale University this July. The Fellows and the seminars they'll participate in are:

Joyce Arnosky, Penn Alexander School – Literature and Information              

Cristobal Carambo, Philadelphia High School for Girls – Physiological Determinants of Global Health

Tara Ann Carter, Hill-Freedman World Academy – Explaining Character in Shakespeare     

Sydney Coffin, Edison/Fareira High School – History in our Everyday Lives: Collective Memory, Historical Writing, and Public History

Klint Kanopka, The Academy at Palumbo – Problem Solving and the Common Core

Kathleen Radebaugh, Henry C. Lea School – Using Film in the Classroom

They are among 65 teachers from 19 school districts in eight states and the District of Columbia who will participate. For two weeks in July, National Fellows will attend daily two-hour seminars led by Yale University professors. They will create innovative curriculum units for their students based on seminar content, guidance from the Seminar Leader, individual research, and feedback from their colleagues. The units will be shared on the YNI website for reference and use by teachers everywhere. Congratulations to all 2015 National Fellows for being selected for this distinguished professional development program!
