Genetics Through the Eyes of Tomorrow
This module is about using other media to teach genetics. The books read are Brave New World by Aldous Huxley and Beyond This Horizon by Robert A. Heinlein. They would view the movie Gattaca in short segments. Since this is written for high school science classes, there are several adaptations that can be used. There is writing so that students can improve their writing as well as their creative and critical thinking. They need to learn how to broaden their horizons and look at things in a more global way than just what their individual lives cover. Even though students of today are video and technological junkies, they still live in a limited world in which they need to learn how to break out and explore so that they can take their place in society when they enter adulthood.
